Knee Injury forces Cilic to withdraw from Tata Open Maharashtra 2023.

Pune, January 05, 2023 :  The top seed of Tata Open Maharashtra 2023, Marin Cilic, has pulled out of the tournament because of a knee injury. His opponent, Tallon Griekspoor, gets a walkover to the semi-finals. In the last round, Cilic defeated Roberto Carballes Baena 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the quarter-finals. On the day of the quarter-final encounter with Griekspoor, the Croat injured his knee during a practice session. Griekspoor will advance to the next round and take on Aslan Karatsev in the semi-final.

Statement from Marin Cilic:
Hey guys, very sorry that I couldn't come out again today to compete. Today during the warm-up, I injured my knee and unfortunately it didn't get better until I was about to go out on the court.
Thanks to the fans for the great support this week, it was fantastic. I'm looking forward to return to India in the future to compete over here again.
